Bad, Bad, Blogger

Oh, how I've neglected this blog.  It's true.  And, while I do have aspirations to get pictures and what not up of new products, lines, etc, I'm realistic enough to know that it's not going to happen anytime soon.  So, for now, head on over to our facebook page, and you can see what we've been up to!  Better yet, "like" us on facebook - you will probably even be the first to know when I do finally update the ol' blog.

Now Carrying Mint Products!

Hello friends!  I know, it's been a while.  But, I do have a good excuse - it's graduation season around here, which means that my sewing room has temporarily been turned into a sweatshop (don't worry, I'm the only employee....I haven't put my kids to work...yet.)  Anyhow, I just wanted to pop in for a minute and share some exciting news - we now carry super-cute products from Mint!  (Dont you love how I say "we" as if there's more than one person working here??  It sounds official, doesn't it??)  Anyhow, Mint has some really cute items like tote bags, laundry bags, duffle bags, pillow cases, etc.  Two of my favorite products thus far are the seersucker backpack and seersucker everything tote.  If you have a chance, check out their website (www.ohmint.com), and let me know if there are other products you'd like to see "us" carry!

A Really Fun Project

Recently, my friend Brooke came to me with a fun secret - she's having another baby! (It's not a secret anymore - wait, I mean, they aren't keeping it a secret anymore, lest you think I just spilled the beans here on Stitchy Britches).  Anyhow, she asked me to make an outfit for her daughter Riley to let her family know.  It was such a fun project, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!  Of course, I'm pretty sure Riley would look cute in a potato sack, but little ruffles never hurt a little girl, right??

I'm Weird Like That...

So, I realize that most people get "nice" clothes monogrammed.  And, I do that too...but, I tend to mongram the Target type stuff far more often...weird, I know.  But, hear me out.  So, my theory is that if it's a nice piece of clothing, then I'd love to hang onto it for another child. (Now all the grandparents are grabbing their phones to call and see if we have big news.  I assure you, we don't.  And probably won't for a long time.  Maybe never.  Can you tell the kiddos are wearing me out this week?  But, I digress.)

Anyhow, I love finding inexpensive clothing for my kids to monogram and give it a little something extra.  Take this dress for example.  It's perfect for Spring, and will look really cute with some white leggings under it.

So, how much, you say??
Seven smakaroos.
Thats right, $7.
From Walmart.
And, at that price, she can spill on it and fall in the dirt in it, and do whatever else two year olds do to ruin their clothes, and I won't have a heart attack.  I'll just sit back and relax and take comfort in the fact that my Little English jumper is safe and sound and ready for some other little one.  Maybe.  :)

So, run out to Walmart and grab your dress!

Like the Blog??

I surely do! My talented friend Rachel designed it for me, and I'm so thrilled with the results.  You can see her blog design business, Uniquely Yours, here. I would also highly recommend her personal blog, Moments with my Miracles.  Rachel is honest and real, and I always find great encouragement at her blog - her adorable three kids make the blog fun too!  So, if are wanted to make your blog more personal, head on over and let Rachel help you out- she's even running a special between now and March 10.  These are some shirts I did for her daughters.  I was so happy with how the watermelon turned out!

FORE!

I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of my favorite designs for the Spring and Summer.  It's obviously so cute for a little boy, but I'm picturing the flag and name in pink looking preeetty cute for the little miss in your life too!

Flower Power

Here's a shirt I made for my daughter to match a little twirly skirt I made for her.  I'm toying with the idea of taking a limited number of orders for shorts or skirts to match the shirts you are ordering...if this is something you'd be interested in, let me know!

Gift Tote

Here are the pictures from the gift basket I was telling you about.  Anne is one of those fun (and trusting!) people who basically said, "Here's my stuff!  Do whatever you want!"  I love that!  The second I saw the picture frame she was going to put in the tote, I knew exactly what fabric I wanted to use.  I think it turned out great, and I hope little Sam (and, let's be honest here, his mommy) will love it.

What's in a Name?

I'm loving all the kids items you can get with your child's name on it these days!  Clothing is no exception, and I'm having a blast embroidering names on everything from tote bags to t-shirts.  I recently received an order for a personalized market tote, a t-shirt, and a lovey.  Anne is filling the market tote will all sorts of personalized goodies for a friend who's having a baby - what a great idea!  When I finish the project later this week, I will certainly post pictures, but for now, here's one I did for my own little stinker.

Summer, Summer, Summer-time!

Ok, so the post title doesn't quite work for mid-February, but a girl can dream, right?  I don't know about you, but I am Over the snow with a capital "O."  So, it was nice to dream about the summer while I was embroidering these beach towels for Rhonda.  And, I was thinking that these would make such a great birthday present for the little person in your life.  Save a mom's den from toy-clutter and give her child something they will use again and again. :)  Here's to some warm weather in the coming months!

Sibling Shirts

Allison had me make these shirts for her kids to wear on Spring Break.  I love finding fonts and colors that work for both boys and girls!  I laughed when she said she was going to hide them until then so that her kids wouldn't spill anything on them between now and Spring Break...hope the pictures turn out great, Allison!

Beach Bag Appliqué

My friend Lindsey had me applique a "P" on her beach bag for the summer. What a fun way to personalize something she will use all the time! I love how it turned out, and I think this would be such a fun gift.  Using someone's lake house or beach house this spring or summer?  What a unique way to say "Thank You!"  (For those who are curious, Lindsey got her bag at Old Navy - but it was last summer...sad news for the rest of us, right??  I'm sure they'll have some more cute ones this year!)

Single Appliquéd Initial - $10

A gift for Grandparents

My friend Renee recently ordered these for the grandparents of her soon-to-be-born baby. What a great idea!

"I Love" onesies - $18 (shown in Impress Font)

Framed Initial Shirts - $18 short sleeve, $19 long sleeve

There's something I love about the simplicity of a basic initial on a shirt. It's classic, yet fun, and can go with just about anything!  It also works well if you are wanting to coordinate shirts for boys and girls.  Need a good hostess or baby gift?  Any of these would also look really cute on a burp cloth ($12), bib ($12), or flour sack dishtowel ($12).

How It all Started...

As I was sitting here thinking about how this whole thing started, I had a hard time pinpointing the moment I decided to start Stitchy Britches.  Back in the fall, I was monogramming a lot of things for my own kids.  A couple of friends asked if I would be willing to do some stuff for them, which I gladly did.  When I was visiting a friend from college (who lives in another city), she told me about a party she went to where they all brought their own items (shirts, bags, etc) and the girl there took orders for monograms or appliqués.  I knew I wanted to do it!  So I came home, made an evite, and sent it out.  The week after Thanksgiving, about 20 friends came to my house.  I thought people might bring one shirt a piece, but I was way wrong.  I ended up with over 80 orders that night!  After the party (and the initial shock that I would be spending every waking second between then and Christmas in the sewing room), I decided to go for it!  Thus, the birth a fun new adventure for me.  I hope you will find some cute stuff here for your kids or your home.  Happy Stitches!

Fabrics

Ok - if I'm honest, there are no fabric options on here because I have FAR FAR more fabrics than I could even imagine taking pictures of and posting here.  So, I'm thinking on that one....so far, as I've taken orders, I've just talked with people about what colors they are looking for and have send them pictures of some options.  So, maybe there will be pictures coming soon, but maybe not. :)  If you have any brilliant ideas, let me know!

What About.....?

What brand of shirts do you use?
I typically use Monag brand shirts, which are 100% ringspun interlock cotton and of great quality.  For onesies, I also use Gerber or Carters from time to time.

Can I bring you my own shirt?
Yes, you can!  My prices reflect a shirt purchased through Stitchy Britches.  If you provide the shirt yourself, the price is $18 for an applique, $10 for a monogram.  If you do bring me your own item, PLEASE wash and dry it before you drop it off.

What is your turnaround time?
My average turnaround time is 2 weeks, although it really depends on how many orders I have at any given time.  If you need an item quickly, please let me know and I will see what we can do.  If I am ever running past a two week turnaround, I will certainly let you know before you place your order.

Do you offer shipping to people outside of Nashville?
Yes.  I am happy to ship your order to you or a recipient if it is a gift.  I do however, require payment before I will ship the items.  I will contact you once the item is close to being completed, and you can either mail me a check, or I will send you an invoice via paypal if you prefer.  Shipping cost is $6 for most orders, although larger orders would obviously be higher.  I do not make money on shipping.  I try very hard to only charge you my cost to ship the item to you.

Do you offer gift wrapping?
Yes!  I will be happy to wrap your gift at no extra charge, and I can include a message from you if the item is being shipped directly to the recipient.  You can see a picture of our gift wrapping on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/stitchybritches

What if I have an idea for a shirt or design?
Please let me know!!  I love to take custom orders, and I'm sure we can come up with something that is just what you are looking for!
